Mayhem in Monterrey: 4 Die in Two Firefights

The confrontation took place when the suspects fired on soldiers near Vallecillo at about 1400 hrs where the patrol had been sent on an anonymous tip regarding armed suspects in the area. When the patrol arrived at a location known as Hacienda San José, they were fired on. Soldiers surrounded the location and fought a brief battle killing the three. One AK-47 and two AR-15 assault rifles, and a Ford Lobo pickup truck and a Mustang sedan were seized the in aftermath. Vallecillo is roughly halfway between Monterrey and Nuevo Laredo.
