Big Explosion in Lafayette but (probably) not Terrorism
Hey Snowy, got any more on this?
Major Explosion in Youngsville Area of Verot School Rd & State Hwy 92. Lafayette police say it was a compressor that exploded at Texas Gas Company. The blast blew the roof off the structure it was in, which now has about 50% roof damage. There is a safety mechanism on the machine which prevented gas from leaking out, according to the Sheriff's Department. There are no injuries and no evacuations. According to witnesses, There was a grass fire as big as an acre at one point, but that has been put out as well. The sky was glowing red immediately following the explosion. The hiss from the natural gas plant was deafening, but the sound has stopped at this time. No word on the status of the plant. LA 339 Road is shut down to one lane so they can move first responders in and out of the area quickly.
I wonder what pipeline this is on - could be chilly for some Yankees for a while.
