15 wanted men captured near Kirkuk
KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Fifteen wanted persons were arrested and weapons were seized in crackdown operations in villages in south and southwest of Kirkuk on Monday, according to local police chief.
A joint force of Kirkuk Districts Police Department (KDPD) and 12th division of the Iraqi army, backed by U.S. troops, waged operations in villages in al-Zab district, southwest of Kirkuk, where 15 wanted men were arrested in accordance to Article IV Terrorism Law, Brigadier Sarhad Qader told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The forces seized also amounts of weapons during the operation, he added. A total of 44 wanted and suspected gunmen have been arrested since Dec. 22."
Kirkuk is 250 km northeast of Baghdad.
