This article suggests that one of the reasons the enviro-weenies became so radical is that when the Cold War ended, the crypto-commies in the 'peace movements' had nowhere else to go. I'm not sure about that -- I think the environmentalist movements were infiltrated long before that -- but it's a good read. |
