Bombers attack monk in southern Thailand
A monk and three soldiers were wounded Saturday when a bomb was deliberately set off as they passed by. All four were hospitalized. The soldiers had been providing an escort for the monk as he made his alms rounds in Pattani province.Pattani Deputy Gov. Lertkiat Wongpopan said the planting of the bomb was captured by a security camera that showed two men were involved. On Friday, Maraseng Sa-a, 35, a local security volunteer was shot and killed in Pattani, allegedly by an Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said the government is reducing violence in the south. But, he said, "It's not like turning off a light.'
