Four Russian servicemen were killed and six were wounded in a clash with rebels near the Chechen capital Grozny, an official in the Kremlin-backed Chechen administration said on Sunday. The casualties occurred as Russian troops and Chechen rebels skirmished on Saturday near Starye Atagi, 20 kilometres south of Grozny, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. Four soldiers were killed and nine were wounded in rebel attacks on Russian positions over the past 24 hours, while two were killed and five were wounded when a military truck hit a land mine in the Nadterechny region of northern Chechnya, the official said.
