Efforts to Release Taliban Guantanamo Prisoners Amid Rise in Violence
[Tolo News] Afghan High Peace Council has recently made efforts to get some Taliban figures released from Guantanamo Bay detention facility amid a surge in Taliban attacks in the country.
Doesn't that reward the Taliban for misbehaving?
Some Afghan experts, criticising this move of the peace council, said efforts by the council could not result in peace and stability.
Clever experts.
The Taliban have doubled their attacks to impose their demands over the government, experts believe.

"The Council hopes that the ground is prepared for the release of those leaders playing a crucial role in peace in Afghanistan," said Deputy Head of High Peace Council, Mawlawi Attaullah Ludin.

A significant rise in the Taliban-led violence has caused widespread concerns among politicians.

"The Peace Council should have gone to Quetta instead of the US. The trips would not bring any outcome except a waste of time and unnecessary spending," said Sayed Ishaq Gilani, an Afghan MP.

Experts accused high-profile government officials of providing support to the Taliban.

While declining to provide names of the officials, they said the pro-Taliban support within the government system has caused the government to have a weak stance toward its neighbours and the Taliban.

But Karzai's Office denied the allegations.
No, no! Certainly not!
