Official Statement by ISAF and Gen Petraeus re Koran Burning
In view of the events of recent days, we feel it is important on behalf of ISAF and NATO members in Afghanistan to reiterate our condemnation of any disrespect to the Holy Qur'an and the Muslim faith. We condemn, in particular, the action of an individual in the United States who recently burned the Holy Qur'an.
No mention of the legality of the act, or of Freedom of Speech as an innate human right, nor of the duty of the military to protect the US from foreign enemies.
We also offer condolences to the families of all those injured and killed in violence which occurred in the wake of the burning of the Holy Qur'an.
That's a mighty 'wake' reaching across continents. Also the 'condolences' are offered not only to the victims' families but also to those who were injured or killed in self defense because they were part of an islamofascistic mob.
We further hope the Afghan people understand that the actions of a small number of individuals, who have been extremely disrespectful to the Holy Qur'an, are not representative of any of the countries of the international community who are in Afghanistan to surrender to help the Afghan people.
The net result of ISAF and 'Enduring Freedom' is that the Afghans are imposing their will on the West not vice versa. Per Clausewitz that means the West has been defeated by the Afghans.
