May 1 (Bloomberg) -- Billionaire investor Warren Buffett and Apple Computer Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs are advising Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry on economic issues.
Kerry, 60, the four-term Massachusetts senator challenging President George W. Bush, ``reached out to them and theyâre giving him economic advice about the deficit and job creation,ââ said David Wade, Kerryâs campaign spokesman.
``Political campaigns are always looking for celebrity endorsements and these are two eminent celebrities in the investment world,ââ said James Lucier, a political analyst at Prudential Equity Group LLC. ``But I donât think investors are looking for celebrities, they are looking for policies.ââ
Buffett, 73, said in an interview in Omaha, Nebraska that heâs part of a group of advisers that includes Roger Altman, founder of New York-based investment firm Evercore Partners LLC.
``I support John Kerry,ââ said Buffett, whoâs hosting the annual Berkshire Hathaway Inc. shareholder meeting this weekend in Omaha. ``In the choice of the two candidates heâs the one I would vote for. I think I would rather have him as president than George W. Bush.ââ
