CIA Drone Strike Kills 26 in Pakistan
ISLAMABADMissiles fired by a CIA drone in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region killed at least 26 people in the latest in a series of strikes that have inflamed tensions between the U.S and Pakistan. The pilotless predator drone operated by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency fired at least 10 missiles at a mud-brick compound in a predawn attack Friday, a Pakistani intelligence official said. At least three women were among the dead. The identities of other victims weren't known. A local tribal elder said the compound was used by suspected militants. "The entire compound was turned into rubble. Some women and children were also believed to have been killed in the strike," Mehboob Jan said. Meantime, hundreds of militants attacked a Pakistani security post along the Afghan border, killing at least 14 army soldiers.
