Proper Attributions When Talking About Ahl Al Sunnah Wal Jamaâah
When we are talking about Ahl Al Sunnah Wal Jamaâah, we are not speaking about Abu Hanifah, nor Imam Maalik, nor Imam Shafiâi, nor Imam Ahmed, we are speaking about the salaf, though, all four imams are from Ahl Al Sunnah Wal Jamaâah.
A Deen is always attributed to Allah (swt)
A Millah is always attributed to a nabi
e.g. Millat Ibrahim (as), Millat Muhammad (saw)
A Firqah (sect) is always attributed to belief matter - Aqeedah
e.g. Ahl ul Sunnah Wal Jamaâah, Muâtazilah (rationalists), Ashâaris, Maturidis, etc.
A Madhab is always attributed to a Juristic scholar
e.g. Hanafi madhab = Abu Hanifah (ra),
Maliki Madhab = Imam Malik (ra),
Shafiâi Madhab = Imam Shafiâi (ra),
Hanbali Madhab = Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (ra).
Al Uâzaaâie = Imam Al Uâzaaâie,
Al Thawrie - Imam Al Thawrie,
Al Salaamie = Imam Al âIzz ibn Abdul Salaam etc.
A Jamaâah is always attributed to a particular duty or obligation
