Rooney to retract stupid criticism
Sunday night on 60 Minutes Andy Rooney will retract his attack on President Bush as "not too smart" when it was Rooney who wasn't very smart himself. USA Today's Peter Johnson reported Thursday that Rooney "will apologize for noting in his commentary two weeks ago that President Bush didn't sound too swift when he said that America's enemies in Afghanistan think their 'harbors are safe. But they won't be safe forever.'" On the September 23 60 Minutes Rooney had countered: "Afghanistan is landlocked. It doesn't have a harbor." Johnson relayed the content of some of the letters Rooney received: "'If you didn't know the meaning of 'safe harbor' you probably thought the 'underground railroad' had tracks.'
