[as Rachel Corrie said, "they are the gentlest, kindest people in the world] Toward the end of the service, at around 6:45 P.M., terrorists hiding in nearby Palestinian homes opened fire on the mourners from a distance of some 300 meters. Some 30 minutes later, Israel Defense Forces soldiers safely evacuated the settlers in the direction of the Kissufim crossing. Searches of the area revealed the body of one terrorist.
