Top Russian hockey team wiped out in plane crash
A passenger airplane chartered by one of Russias most famous hockey teams crashed during take-off Wednesday, killing much of the team, including many of its star players. The team, Lokomotiv, was heading from its home in Yaroslavl to an away game in Minsk. First accounts of the number of people on board varied from 37 to 44. A Russian aviation official said that all but one a member of the crew had died. Vladimir N. Malkov, a spokesman for Lokomotiv, said in a telephone interview, "We have no team any more.
