Anwar al-Awlaki killed in Yemen
 It's a good dayAnwar al-Awlaki, a U.S.-born radical Islamist who rose to the top level of al Qaeda in Yemen, has been killed. Al-Awlaki has been linked to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula's attempted bombing of a U.S. passenger jet over Detroit on Christmas day, 2009, and was thought to be a leader of that group. A U.S. government source has confirmed to CBS News senior security correspondent that al-Awlaki was killed. Yemen's Defense Ministry first told CBS News of the strike, but given previous reports which turned out to be erroneous, the rapid U.S. confirmation is important, and shores up witness accounts of a U.S. drone strike having killed the al Qaeda figure.
