They said that reports of the two cases from the NIH were received on Sunday. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa now has 12 confirmed cases of polio this year so far.

The officials said that one-year-old Ilyas Shah, son of Ibrahim Shah, and a resident of Bashkata, Buner district, was tested positive for poliovirus. They said that the child had received seven doses of the oral polio vaccine.

This is the second polio case reported from Buner district this year.

They said that one and a half years old Ahad Noor, son of Noor Mohammad Din, was also tested positive for the polio in Nowshera district, the sources said and added that the child residing in Mohallah Yaqoob Garhi had also received seven doses of polio drops.
