US and France 'join fighting' against al-Shabab
[Sydney Morning Herald] Foreign military forces have joined the offensive against the al-Shabab militant group in Somalia as Kenyan troops advanced towards the rebel stronghold of Kismayu, a Kenyan military spokesman, Major Emmanuel Chirchir, said.The US or France, or possibly both, had stepped up airstrikes in the past few days, killing al-Shabab militants, he said.
