Bloomberg News Rolls Out the Full Goebbels: The Miracle of Obama's Scandal-Free White House!

President Barack Obama goes into the 2012 with a weak economy that may doom his reelection. But he has one asset that hasn't received much attention: He's honest.
Although it's possible that the Solyndra LLC story will become a classic feeding frenzy, don't bet on it. These kinds of stories are unlikely to derail Obama in 2012. If he loses, it will be because of the economy -- period.
Even so, the president's Teflon is intriguing. How did we end up in such a scandal-less state? After contacting Ezra Klein and Jay Carney for the latest talking points investigating the question for a recent DNC press release Washington Monthly article, I've been developing some theories.
For starters, the tone is always set at the top. Obama puts a premium on personal integrity, and with a few exceptions (Tim Geithner's tax problems in 2009) his administration tends to fire first and ask questions later.
We'll just ignore those little piddling matters of gunrunning to the Sinaloa Cartel, stealing GM and Chrysler from their bondholders for the enrichment of the UAW, publicly stabbing Poland in the back after they agreed to host American missile-defense sites, the unleashing of SEIU goons on people who publicly disagree with The One's policies, the ballot fraud, the campaign-finance fraud...
Unfortunately, we might not know of scandals in stimulus spending or elsewhere because of changes in the news business. For today's media, talk is cheap and reporting is expensive
unless the "story" involves a Republican.
That means we get more chatter and less scrounging for official wrongdoing
unless the "story" involves a Republican..
t doesn't help that so much "news" coverage -- as opposed to commentary that is explicitly opinionated -- nowadays takes place in a partisan context
which of course is the sole fault of Faux News. MSNBC? The NY Times? Newsweek? Objective middle of the roaders, all of 'em.
Every time Representative Darrell Issa, the Republican from California who leads a House investigative committee, calls the Obama administration "corrupt" without offering any evidence that the MSM will allow the public to see, he hurts his cause. It's much harder to make a story register as a bona fide scandal when the political motivation is so obvious.
Also a lot harder when the entire MSM adopts the "if a tree falls in the forest and my editor spikes the story, it didn't really fall" approach.
This is just the opening salvo, folks. Politico's rollout of an "Anita Hill" attack on Herman Cain is another. 2012's going to be a MUCH tougher fight than any of us figured even two or three months ago. These bastards are playing for all the marbles this time. If they win just this one last big battle (especially if they can retake both houses of Congress as well), say hello to one or two more leftist Supreme Court justices and a de facto open-borders immigration policy, which combined mean unbreakable leftist rule for the next fifty years or longer.
