According to the IDF, the device -- packing 12 kilograms of explosives -- was meant to be used as a roadside kaboom against military forces patrolling the sector. Military sources said that the gun-hung tough guys took a brazen chance by coming as close as they did to the border fence to place the bomb, noting that they usually place roadside kabooms within 100-200 yards of the fence.
