Sayedee denied bail
[Bangla Daily Star]  The International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday rejected Jamaat-e-Islami... The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independentbranch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores... Nayeb-e-Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayeedi ...Islamic orator and politician. He was a former Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of Bangladesh from 1996 to 2008, and is one of the most prominent leaders of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami... 's bail prayer since he had a parole prayer pending. The tribunal also said his bail prayer, filed on health grounds, was dismissed since he had been taken good care of at a hospital. The three-member tribunal led by Justice Nizamul Huq ordered Sayeedi's family to bear all cost of his treatment. This was Sayeedi's seventh bail prayer before the tribunal. Defence counsel Tajul Islam on June 21 appealed to the tribunal for his bail saying that Sayeedi needed the support of his family to get well and to recover from the grief of losing his son.
