Insurgents Attack District Governor Compound, Kill 3 Police

province on Monday, killing three coppers, local officials said. Two other coppers were maimed in the attack.

The incident occurred yesterday in the Hesarak district of the province when beturbanned goons attacked the district governor compound and clashed with security troops, provincial front man Ahmad Zia Abduzai said.

"The district governor, Haji Fazl Khaliq, has sustained minor injuries in the attack and several beturbanned goons also were killed in the attack," he said.
There were no civilians casualties in the attack.

No group, including the Taliban, has grabbed credit for the attack.

Insurgents have recently increased attacks in the province and are targeting local security forces checkpoints.

The incident comes as The Daily Telegraph reported on Sunday that Afghan National Security Forces are dying at five times the rate of NATO
