...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
(AU)Missionin Somalia (AMISOM) forces and Al shabab fighters killed at least 8 combatants, reports said on Monday.

Mohamed Abdullah Hirse, the front man of Gedo administration for Somali government, told the Media Monday that eight Al shabab combatants were killed in the fighting while two soldiers on their side sustained minor injures.

The fighting which both warring sides exchanged heavy artillery fire and machine guns occurred Sunday afternoon at Tuulo-Barwaqo located near Garbaharey, the quiet provincial capital of Gedo region, south-west Somalia.

Reports from the town indicated that Al shabab agents have been attacking Somali and AMISOM forces in the region in the past few days since the cut-throats were pushed back from strategic stronghold towns in south west Somalia.
