operation, Isaf said Sunday.

"Afghan and coalition forces confirmed the Aug. 30 arrest of a Taliban bad boy during an operation in Hisarak district of Nangarhar

province," Isaf said in a statement.

The former policeman was captured in eastern Nangarhar province trying to join the Afghan National Army, Isaf said.

"The bad boy is accused of using his status as a member of the Afghan National Police to conduct a May attack which killed two coalition service members in Helmand

province," it said.

The shooting happened during a meeting with local officials near Patrol Base Attal. The two soldiers killed were part of a team providing security at the meeting, according to a BBC report in May.

In other operations in Afghanistan, Isaf said joint forces set out to capture a Taliban leader but were faced with heavy enemy fire in the Baraki Barak district of Pashtun-infested Logar province on Sunday.

The security forces killed "multiple bad boys" after being "engaged with machine gun and mortar fire. The security force returned fire, killing the bad boys," it said. "The Taliban leader [who was not captured] is believed to direct and conduct direct-fire and improvised bomb attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in Pashtun-infested Logar province."

Multiple beturbanned goons were also killed in the Pul-e-Alam district of Pashtun-infested Logar on Sunday after coalition forces called in an Arclight airstrike, Isaf said.

"The security force observed several combatants armed with heavy machines guns and rocket propelled grenades. After ensuring there were no civilians nearby, the security force engaged with an Arclight airstrike, killing several," it said.

Isaf did not say whether there were any casualties among the security forces in any of these operations.
