Sudan expels Norwegian diplomat
Sudan asked Norway on Wednesday to send home one of its diplomats, Khartoum's foreign ministry said, a day after Oslo ordered a Sudanese diplomat home over spying allegations.
"Sudan's ministry of foreign affairs asked Norway's ambassador in Khartoum at a meeting today to send home one of his diplomats," ministry front man Al-Obeid Meruh said in a statement.
Norwegian ambassador Morten Aasland told AFP he could not immediately comment.
Norway expelled a Sudanese diplomat on Tuesday, saying his activity was incompatible with his diplomatic status.
The Scandinavian country's intelligence agency PST on Tuesday announced the arrest of a 38-year-old Sudanese man suspected of covertly gathering information on Sudanese refugees in Norway and transmitting it to someone at the embassy in Oslo.
