Abu Sayyaf gunmen kill three soldiers
Four gunmen believed to be Abu Sayyaf
terrorists rebels have killed three soldiers in an attack along the circumferential road of Basilan province. Army’s 1st Infantry Division spokesman Captain Alberto Caber said the incident took place Saturday afternoon in Lamitan City.
The three Army soldiers were traveling on motorcycles to a market in the village when four suspected Abu Sayyaf
terrorists bandits riding in tandem on two motorcycles shot the unarmed soldiers from behind as they overtook the victims. The victims were rushed to the hospital by civilians but were declared dead on arrival by the attending physicians.
Troops and policemen launched pursuit operations upon receiving reports of the incident but the gunmen escaped.
