Arabs warn of backlash
As the leaders of six Persian Gulf states met in Saudi Arabia on Sunday to discuss the depth of their military involvement, diplomats and observers warned that if U.S. warplanes are launched from Arab soil, there likely would be an anti-U.S. backlash. The reaction could lead to economic boycotts or attacks on U.S. targets, according to some participants in the meeting. "American installations are at great risk," said retired Egyptian army Gen.
