Hamas political leader Khaled Meshaal has held a defiant news conference in Cairo after a ceasefire was agreed with Israel to end a week of violence in which nearly 160 people have died.He said that the Israelis had "achieved a great deal" in terms of damage in Gaza, but that they had failed in their objective to destroy "the underlying structure of the resistance".
