First Cell Phone Virus Emerges
The first-ever virus capable of spreading through cell phone networks has been uncovered. Security software developers at Russiaâs Kapersky Lab say the virus, called Cabir, appears to have been designed by an international group of virus writers. They say the groupâs goal is to prove no technology is safe from virus attacks. Cabir thrives in the Simbian operating system found in several makes of mobile phones, including millions of Nokia phones. It spreads through new Bluetooth wireless technology present in many new phones. It scans the environment for other phones using Bluetooth, and uses wireless connections to jump from phone to phone.
