Despite mullahs atrocities, EU leaders seek closer ties with Iran
Leaders of the 25-member EU are to call for closer relations between Iran and the European bloc during their summit in Brussels on Thursday and Friday. According to a draft resolution of the summit on Iran, EU leaders will "stress the Unionâs desire to move towards a closer relationship with Iran, on the basis of action by Iran to address the EUâs concerns regarding Iranâs nuclear programme, the fight against terrorism, human rights and Iranâs approach to the Middle East Peace Process."" The draft notes the "ongoing work of the IAEA in Iran and urges full cooperation with the Agency in a spirit of full transparency in relation to its nuclear programme, with a view to solving all outstanding problems." "The EU will continue discussion in light of IAEA Director-General El-Baradeiâs recent report and the outcome of the IAEA Board of Governors meeting currently taking place in Vienna," concludes the draft resolution.
