Court told Beavers gambled $500,000 a year
 [Chicago Tribune] Cook County Commissioner William Beavers earned the highest VIP status in the 7 Star Club and had access to the most exclusive slot room at Horseshoe Casino -- all because he gambled at least $500,000 a year, according to testimony today at his federal tax-evasion trial.Beavers lost nearly a combined $500,000 gambling over the three-year period between 2006 and 2008, said a former representative of the Hammond casino, citing electronic records that track the gambling.
