Agreements with private companies protect U.S. access to cablesÂ’ data for surveillance
Very long piece at WaPo on how the government has demanded, over the past decade access to the underseas fiberoptic cables for surveillance work, and how the companies, some foreign-owned, have complied.

Coupled with the other piece just uploaded about the reach and power of the FISA court, one begins to see just how it is that NSA and other intel agencies can obtain and read just about anything they want.
