Spain refutes Argentine claims on pact to force UK to leave Falklands and Gibraltar
Spain refuted Argentine claims they had reached agreement on "joint actions" against the UK to encourage them to negotiate on the Falklands' sovereignty. The Argentine announcement came after the two countries' foreign ministers met in New York where they were attending the UN General Assembly.The Argentine foreign ministry, in the statement posted on its website yesterday said: "Hector Timerman and Spanish counterpart Jose Maria Margallo met in New York at the margins of the UN General Assembly to discuss bilateral agenda issues. "In particular they discussed the common ground regarding sovereignty disputes over the Falklands and Gibraltar.
