Massive cargo plane lands at wrong Wichita airport, now stuck there
A massive cargo plane bound for McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kan., from New York City landed at the wrong airport late Wednesday and is now temporarily stuck there. The Boeing 747 LCF Dreamlifter took off from John F. Kennedy International Airport at 7:26 p.m. and was cleared to land at McConnell, but instead landed at the much smaller Jabara Airport about 10 miles north. It's not entirely clear whether the Atlas Air flight landed at Jabara on purpose or by mistake. But audio captured by LiveATC.net suggests the Dreamlifter pilots informed McConnell's tower controller after the plane touched down, and did not realize where they were.
