Al-Oufi banged in Soddy shootout?
Saudi security forces killed two wanted terrorists and arrested three others in a Riyadh clash in which three policemen were wounded, officials said Wednesday. An interior ministry source said the incident occurred late Tuesday night when policemen went to inspect a suspected terrorist hideout in the crowded King Fahd district north of Riyadh. "The security forces came under heavy fire, including bombs and rocket propelled grenades ... They returned to the source of fire and a clash erupted," the source said. He explained that another group of militants had been called in from outside the district but fled when confronted by security forces. They were still being hunted in Riyadh's neighborhoods. One of the dead militants is believed to be Saleh al-Oufi, who had replaced Saleh al-Muqrin, the main al-Qaida operative in Saudi Arabia, killed by police on June 18. The source said police seized a quantity of arms and arrested al-Oufi's family, notably his wife and three children, who were at the scene of the clash.
