Femen Activists Bare Breasts against Putin in Times Square
How boring. The first twenty or so times there was some decreasing shock value, but that was long ago and in another country.
No doubt someone will explain at some considerable length in Salon to us mere peasants how a bared breast in Times Square solves the problem in the Ukraine...
[An Nahar] Five topless activists from the Femen feminist group protested in New York's Times Square on Thursday to denounce Russia's incursion into Ukraine, asking for tougher U.S. and EU action against Moscow.

The women, whose bare chests were painted blue and yellow -- the color of Ukraine's flag -- hoisted a placard slamming Russian President Vladimir Putin

Inna Shevchenko, a Femen leader, told news hounds the protest was "in support of the Ukrainian people, in support of the Ukrainian revolution against Putin, against Russian occupation."

Shevchenko tore up a Russian flag as part of the protest.

The activists called on the United States and European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
 to impose sanctions "much more serious than just restrictions of visas" and freezing of assets of officials.

The United States on Thursday slapped visa bans on Russians and Ukrainians it blames for destabilizing Ukraine, setting the stage for more sanctions to come.
