Multi-billionaire Google creator Larry Page won't be leaving his money to charity, he has revealed. He'd much rather it go to businessman Elon Musk, founder of electric car company Tesla Motors, Solar City and SpaceX.
Speaking at the TED conference in California on Wednesday, Page, who is estimated to be worth more than $35 billion, said he wanted his cash to go to entrepreneurs who had big ideas for changing the world.
He nominated 42-year-old Musk on the basis of his work with Tesla, as well as his Space-X program that aims to travel to Mars to create a "back-up" of humanity.
"That's a company, and that's philanthropical," Page said, according to Slate.
Musk himself has a $12 billion fortune.
If it is a wise investment, the result will be jobs for those who can do them, the highest level of charity, according to Maimonides. Not to mention moving some of humanity's eggs into a second basket, about the best legacy I can think of for the survival of his descendants. |
