Abdelmalik Tanem, 25, also has French citizenship. He recently returned from Syria, where he is fought for al-Qaeda affiliates Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, the Spanish interior ministry said in a statement.

Tanem worked as a "controller" on the Turkey-Syria border, helping integrate European jihadists into the gangs, the ministry said.
