Five NPA militants killed in Philippine clashes
Five communist militants were killed in separate clashes in North Cotabato and Quezon provinces in the Philippines.Cpt. Alberto Caber said three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Roxas, North Cotabato on Monday. Members of the New People's Army (NPA) reportedly harassed the Roxas Municipal Police Station at around 3:30 a.m. A 30-minute firefight followed, leaving three NPA members dead and one policeman injured. One of the slain militants was identified as alias "Revo." Meanwhile, two NPA miltants were killed in a separate encounter with Army troops in Tayabas, Quezon also on Monday. Lt. Col. Lloyd Cabacungan said the clash happened in Sitio Pinagbanderahan at around 4:15 p.m. He identified the slain miltants as Peping Agudo, logistics and finance officer of a local rebel committee and Rommel Ramos aliases "Jhersy", "Ludy", and "Hansel".
