Bush vows no difference between terrorists and states who harbor them
  • Howard Fineman's Newsweek story on the president's response to Tuesday's attacks contains an telling throwaway detail. Writes Fineman, "In an extra line he apparently penciled in after the speech was hurriedly drafted by aides, Bush vowed to make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them." That was the most important line of the speech, the one that took it beyond comforting boilerplate to serious foreign policy. And it apparently came from Bush himself. (Virginia Postrel)
