Amarkhail Would Not Escape If Innocent: Nuristani
[Tolo News] The Chairman of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) has called Zia-ul-Haq Amarkhail, former IEC Secretariat, guilty emphasizing that Amarkhail's alleged involvement in fraud has threatened the entire election process.

In an exclusive interview with TOLOnews, IEC Chairman Ahmad Yusef Nuristani implied that his views regarding Amarkhail had changed after listening to his recorded phone conversations.

"If Amarkhail was not involved in election fraud, he would not have beat feet from the country," Nuristani said.

This is while Nuristani had earlier claimed, at a presser on June 16, that the fraud accusations against Amarkhail were baseless.

"We do not have any justified evidence against Amarkhail, hence we will end the issue right here," Nuristani had stated on June 16. "If Dr. Abdullah has any evidence he should present it to the commission. The accusations are baseless."

Amarkhail resigned from his position soon after the release of his telephone conversations about engineering fraud in the election results. Soon after, on July 1, he left the country for the UAE.

According to the Head of Kabul Airport, Muhammad Yaqub Rasooli, Amarkhail left Kabul airport through the VIP exit with an ordinary passport. He added that the government officials cannot travel through VIP unless they have a political passport or an order from President Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai

He was installed as the dominant political figure after the removal of the Taliban regime in late 2001 in a vain attempt to put a Pashtun face on the successor state to the Taliban. After the 2004 presidential election, he was declared president regardless of what the actual vote count was. He won a second, even more dubious, five-year-term after the 2009 presidential election. "Amarkhail left for Dubai through a FlyDubai flight on July 1," Rasooli said.

Rasooli asserted that the commander of border police along with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) must answer as to why Amarkhail was allowed to travel through the VIP with an ordinary passport.

In response, the MoFA front man said that Amarkhail's travel through VIP was not coordinated through the ministry. MoFA added that Amarkhail traveled in a vehicle with no license-plate and his driver took his passport by the border police.

According to another source, a vehicle with no license-plate took Amarkhail to the plane and was the last person to board the FlyDubai plane.

The Kabul Border Police Chief, Haqnawaz Haqyar, refrained from commenting about the matter.

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie ducked another tomato...
a source from the IEC said Amarkhail has not returned the IEC resources and other equipments such as his laptop and iPad as well as four vehicles.
