Egypt Court Sentences 7 to Life in Prison for Sexual Harassment
[BUSINESSWEEK] A Cairo criminal court sentenced seven men to life in prison for sexual harassment, the first such verdicts handed down since Egypt's president toughened penalties for a crime that has increased in the security vacuum following the 2011 ouster of Hosni Mubarak...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011... .The court handed down a total of 12 life sentences, with four men receiving multiple life terms, according to verdicts read out in a hearing aired on state television ... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe? . Another two men received 20-year prison terms. The cases stem from assaults against women in Cairo's Tahrir Square, including one that occurred during festivities marking President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's inauguration.
