Liveblogging Operation Protective Edge: Day 16
[IsraelTimes] Foreign worker killed by rocket fire; 30,000 mourn as Los Angeles-born soldier buried

The Times of Israel is liveblogging events as they unfold through Wednesday, the 16th day of Operation Protective Edge. The IDF corpse count is at 29, with another soldier MIA presumed dead and claimed by Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, to be in their hands (dead or alive). US Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
and UN Secretary-General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
are in the region, but a ceasefire does not appear close. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the operation will continue until sustained quiet is achieved for Israel and Hamas's terrorist capabilities greatly degraded. Some foreign airlines are suspending flights to Israel after a rocket hit a home near the airport, followed by Israeli carriers increasing flights. IDF-Hamas fighting in Gazoo remains intensive, Hamas is still trying to carry out attacks in Israel through tunnels, and rockets are still being fired. Within Gazoo, Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, continues to use ambulances for transport.

The IDF killed 30 Death Eaters in the past 24 hours, and 210 overall since the ground offensive was launched last Thursday. Twenty-eight are in Israeli custody.

The army has uncovered 28 tunnels in the Gazoo Strip, and completely demolished six tunnels as well as 57 tunnel entrances, the IDF says.
