Boko Haram puts suicide vest on girl aged 10
[THEAUSTRALIAN.AU] A 10-YEAR-OLD girl has been tossed in the slammerPlease don't kill me! in northern Nigeria with explosives strapped to her chest, officials said, after a woman blew herself up on a university campus, killing at least six people. Officials said the girl was arrested when police stopped a car of suspected myrmidons. She was travelling with two 18-year-olds who attempted to run away when they were challenged, according to a government front man. It was the fourth time in as many days that the Islamist myrmidon group Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... is thought to have used women to carry out attacks. The officials said the girl was among the youngest to be linked to the five-year insurgency. Boko Haram, which has links to al-Qa'ida, claims to be fighting for an Islamic state in northern Nigeria. Rights groups claim it has killed at least 10,000 people in attacks, including on schools and churches, which invariably target civilians. The 10-year-old, who has not been named, was arrested three-and-half months after Boko Haram kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls from the town of Chibok in the remote northeast of the country. He did not say where she was from or when she was expected to carry out an attack. The woman who detonated her vest in Kano targeted a college campus in the city where students had gathered to check details of their summer assignments for a mandatory youth program, police said. Officials said she detonated her explosives near a noticeboard at the Kano polytechnic at around 2.30pm local time. Isyaku Adamu, a witness, said the kaboom came from within the crush of students and left blood splattered on the ground. The attacks came after police in the nearby city of Maiduguri had banned cars over the Moslem festival of Eid, because of fears that they would be used to carry out an attack.
