Political crisis must end through political means, Army says
 [DAWN] After a lengthy four hour meeting at General Headquarters, the Pakistain Army corps commanders came out with a statement "reaffirming support to democracy" and reiterating that the current stand-off between the PML-N led government and the Pakistain Tehrik-I-Insaaf (PTI), Pakistain Awami Tehrik (PAT) needed a political solution.The meeting, which was headed by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, saw the corps commanders reject "further use of force" in the crisis, an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) blurb stated. The commanders also expressed "serious concern" over the violent turn of events in the federal capital. "The Army remains committed to playing its part in ensuring security of the state and will never fall short of meeting national aspirations," the blurb stated. Dawn.com learnt that General Raheel Sharif took the commanders into confidence over his meetings with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf... , PTI Chief Imran Khan  ... aka Taliban Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight... and PAT Chief Tahirul Qadri ...Pak politician, and would-be dictator, founder and head of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran and Pakistain Awami Tehrik. He usually resides in Canada, but returns to Pakistain periodically to foam at the mouth and lead demonstrations. Depending on which way the wind's blowing, Qadri claims to be the author of Pak's blasphemy law. Other times he says it wasn't him... last week. The critical meeting, which was scheduled to be held on Monday morning, was pushed up to today in light of rapidly unfolding events. The situation in Islamabad took on critical proportions after the festivities began late on Saturday and led to at least three reported deaths and countless injuries by Sunday night.
