Peshmerga still await Turkey approval to enter Kobani
[Iran Press TV] Turkey has not yet permitted Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) forces, known as Peshmerga, to depart for Syria to assist in the battle for the Kurdish city of Kobani against ISIL terrorists.

"Until now Peshmerga forces did not go [sic] to Kobane and we are ready to send them," Peshmerga Minister Mustafa Saed Qadir told news hounds on Monday.

"We are awaiting the stance of the state of Turkey, and because of this have not send [sic] any forces," he added, without providing further details.

Although Ankara unexpectedly announced last week that it would allow the Peshmerga to enter Kobani through the Turkish border, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

claimed on Sunday that the Kurdish fighters of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Kobani did not want the assistance of Iraqi Kurds in their city.

Erdogan described the PYD as a "terror" group and claimed that the Kurdish fighters in Kobani are concerned that their influence may diminish if the Iraqi Kurdish forces enter the city.

Erdogan said that "the PYD does not want the peshmerga to come," adding, "The PYD thinks its game will be spoilt if the Peshmerga come. Their setup will be ruined."

Peshmerga officials said on Sunday that 150 Kurdish fighters were geared up to be dispatched to Kobani after Iraq's Kurdish regional parliament agreed on Wednesday to allow sending the forces to the strategic city.

Turkey, widely believed to be the key ISIL supporter, continues to block any delivery of military, medical or humanitarian assistance into Kobani where the Takfiri

Analysts say Ankara, having already won the US green light, plans to let the Lions of Islam seize the Kurdish town of Kobani before sending tanks and troops to fight them in a bid to capture and possibility annex the Syrian territory.
