Shaboobs claim to shoot down Kenyan jet
KISMAYO, Somalia -- As Kenya is fending off wave of terror threats, Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab militants claimed credit for Kenyan fighter jet crash on Thursday, Garowe Online reports. The warplane was shot down shortly after it returned from combat mission according to sources close to Islamist insurgents.
Kenyan Air Force made strikes against Al Shabaab hideouts near Buula Gadud, some 50 km west of the southern port city of Kismayo.
A statement released by army reveals that the warplane developed mid-air mechanical crisis and subsequently crashed.
