Two NPA bombings foiled
Alert villagers foiled two New People's Army (NPA) land mine attacks in separate areas in Eastern Mindanao. According to a Philippine military report, the first incident occurred December 22 at Barangay Rizal, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. Villagers sought the assistance after noticing a group of armed men installing an IED along a provincial road. A brief skirmish ensued after responding soldiers were fired upon by the NPA rebels.
