ISIL a 'vessel' of failed US foreign policy: Analyst
 [Iran Press TV] The ISIL terrorist group is a "vessel" of the failed US foreign policy in the Middle East, an American activist and radio host in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, saysThe US military campaign against ISIL is going to be a "long and protracted war," said Rodney Martin, a former US congressional staffer. The US is using ISIL as a "boogeyman" to justify deploying ground troops to the region which neoconservatives have been pushing, Martin said Monday during a phone interview with Press TV. The new Pentagon chief Ashton Carter vowed on Monday a "lasting defeat" against ISIL as he convened an extraordinary war council in Kuwait to discuss the B.O. regime's strategy against the terrorist group. Only days after taking office, Carter summoned a meeting of more than two dozen military commanders, diplomats and intelligence officials at the sprawling US Army base of Camp Arifjan. The defense secretary told American troops before the talks that the US and its allies were pressing ISIL "very ably from Kuwait and elsewhere and "we will deliver lasting defeat, make no doubt." Martin, however, downplayed America's war strategy against ISIL and said the mealy-mouthed Carter is an "empty vessel" that is promoting the "nefarious policies" of the US which it has pursued for years. "He (Carter) probably won't last very long," Martin stated. "He will probably resign even before the end of [President Barack] Obama's term which is only about two years."
