Black fraternities excluded from alcohol ban at N.C. State
[Wash Times] North Carolina State University's recent ban against alcohol consumption at fraternity events does not include the school's five historically black fraternities.The university announced the decision Friday to crack down on alcohol after a racially offensive pledge book allegedly belonging to a Pi Kappa Phi member was discovered at a local restaurant and separate allegations of drugs and sexual assault surfaced at Alpha Tau Omega, The Associated Press reported. A news release from university spokesman Fred Hartman said the school worked with the Interfraternity Council (IFC) to temporarily suspend social events that involve alcohol. Only problem is that the ban doesn't apply to the school's black fraternities, which are separately organized under the National Pan-Hellenic Council, The Daily Caller reported.
