Two bombings, shooting rock southern Thailand
[Bangkok Post] Two bombings and a shooting occurred in southern Thailand on Friday morning.

A bomb housed in a gas cylinder was detonated near a power pole on a road in of Tak Bai district, Narathiwat. Shrapnel injured a father and his three young children, who were riding their motorcycle and sidecar back home from morning exercise at the beach. Security forces also found a steel box containing a bomb set to explode on contact at the base of a nearby power pole. It was destroyed using a high-pressure water hose.

In Pattani province, a bomb exploded as a security unit was on patrol in Mayo district. Some shrapnel hit their armored vehicle and two soldiers and two defense volunteers experienced a temporary hearing loss. Bomb disposal experts found three other bombs in the area and destroyed them.

On a road in Pattani's Thung Yang Daeng district, officials found a banner with a handwritten message saying "four will not die for nothing" on Friday morning. Rangers killed four men in a raid there in late March. An inquiry later found the four unarmed victims were not militants. In Kapo district, a rangers' base was attacked by gunmen on motorcycles.
